Development of
the fight

Before the fight
The bullfight starts at the sound of the trumpets
and the roll of the drum. Three different matadors with their teams
enter the arena. On his horse, at the head of the parade, rides the
'alguacil' (representing the local authorities) who receives the key
of the door from which the bull will enter the arena, the so called
'toril'. Behind him walk the matadors, the eldest on the left and
the youngest in the center.
When a matador presents himself for the first
time in a specific bullring he holds his 'montera' (special hat)
in his hands. Next come the asssistants of the first matador and
following them are the assistants of the other two.
Behind them come the 'puntilleros' (who kill the bull with a
dagger once it is on its knees), the 'picadors' (also on
horseback), aned their assistants the 'monosabios'. At the back
of the parade are the muledrivers and the 'mulillas', the mules
who drag the dead bull out of the arena.
After presenting their greetings to the president they change their
finely embroidered paradecapes for their sturdy fightingcapes.
The first bull is about to enter....
